Excellent tool today if you are, like me, a PDF junkie: this is actually much more than a normal PDF creator, since it sports very advanced features...

For instance, with this tool you can alter the PAGE LAYOUT, customize the background theme and font embedding, as well as optimize your PDFs for website publishing purposes by compressing page content or removing JavaScript and annotations.

Can also dramatically increase your productivity, since to create a PDF file what you have to do is just to drag & drop any printable files (DWG, BMP, WORD, PPTX, XLS, HTML and CSV) onto a sort of SHORTCUT created by the software itself on your desktop, and then...voilà....a compelling PDF file will be automatically created on the fly, according to your settings profile.

Last but not least it boasts an unique supercool feature called "Watchers", which enables you to automatically convert any files residing into a specific target FOLDER into new PDF files without lifting a finger.

How COOL is that?

Honestly don't know any FREEWARE out there able to provide users with the same features.

So 3 THUMBS UP from me!!

But 100 BUCKS? Are you kidding me, man? Now, I quite understand that this app is mainly addressed to the CORPORATION envinroment, but for that price you should at least add a professional OCR tool and give users more advanced EDITING option, enabling them to copy all clickable hyperlinks in the PDF output as well, a key feature missing in this expensive GAOTD.

LOWER the price MAN and/or add the above feature, please....

BEST FREE ALTERNATIVES

There are many FREE PDF creators on the market but, as I said, none of them sports the same advanced features as this GAOTD instead does.

http://www.girdac.com/Products/PDF-Converters/Free-PDF-Creator/Info/Features.htm (==> supports over 300 Windows apps supported)
http://www.dopdf.com (==> does not require either GhostScript or .NET)

Then, why not protect your PDF files like a GURU for FREE, against online thieves?

But hey...let's now give the developer of this GAOTD a big lesson, mentioning FREE tools which perform some advanced tasks on PDF files this GAOTD (worth a whopping 100 bucks) cannot do yet...

...LOL...a lesson given for FREE of course!

For instance, to preserve clickable HYPERLINKS in the PDF output, try these excellent FREE tools:

http://www.nativewindsofmontana.com/software/tpdfplus.html
http://www.nemopdf.com/guide/pdf-to-word.html
http://www.pdfonline.com/pdf-to-word-converter

And what if you could embed MULTIMEDIA FILES into a PDF file for FREE in order to create extremely professional media-rich & interactive ebooks, without any XML, CSS or JavaScript code knowledge?

http://bookbin.sourceforge.net

If you are instead eager to create a PDF file directly from scanned documents and images for FREE:

http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Microsoft/WinScan2PDF
http://www.freepdfsoft.com/tour_scantopdf.html

Wanna create for FREE a PDF file by extracting text from an image or from a scanned document (OCR) or just extract text from a PDF file in order to make it editable?

http://www.ocronline.com (==> Supports over 153 languages)
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/PDF/Free-Image-OCR.shtml (==> AD Supported App...so be careful while installing it)
http://www.paperfile.net (==> It uses the powerful Tesseract engine by Google)
http://vietocr.sourceforge.net/scanning.html (Giovanni's cool new entry)

And finally, how about EDIT any PDF files of yours like a PRO for FREE, with far more advanced features than those offered by this expensive GAOTD?

http://www.pdfeditorfreeware.net

Hope the developer has learned my lesson today, giving me/us an ever better updated app next time....LOL! ^_^

Enjoy!

Off to a bad start I also wished to install to a different partition than C but as with #4 abc8808, it allowed me to change the drive and then totally ignored my instructions.
On opening presented with an interface that appeared to be designed with Windows 8 in mind,i.e that was designed by a bricklayer or a kid using Lego.
In this day and age how can Microsoft still produce an interface that is so inelegant and clunky.
The program itself appears to be a PDF printer with lots of bells and whistles, done I should imagine to justify the eye watering price.
It appears you can set up the program and then create an MSI file to distribute it with these settings which you can then put on servers, this is a guess on my part as is the idea that you do not pay extra for each of these installations.
It looks like it was designed as a business tool rather than for personal use, personally I don't have use for most of the features and the ones I do have use of are freeware so I won't be keeping it.

Warning: if you already have a pdf file with the same filename (but .pdf, of course) in the same folder as the document you're converting, it will overwrite it with no warning!

Problem with software like this is there is too many good free alternatives. I`m not sure this offers anything the free ones don`t for PDF creation. Its just a virtual printer.

Best free alternatives:
DoPDF (http://www.dopdf.com/)
Doro (http://thesz.diecru.eu/content/doro.php)
PDF24 (http://en.pdf24.org/creator.html)
