Another product which I can strongly recommend. Outpost Security Suite Pro is an entire security suite, do not use other realtime scanners with it, uninstall any other realtime scanners/firewalls before installing. It always rates well on the Matousec Proactive Security Challenge. Those of you proclaiming how great your security products are, check the results before boasting. Firewall vendors who don't participate are suspect. No one makes a perfect security product. A few of the anti-keylogger type applications can detect some things which the suites can't, but the suites can detect a lot of things which they can't. I'll get after Agnitum to improve detection of a few specific things, it's always better for your security suite to detect things rather than trying to add on other products (which won't work with Outpost Security Suite anyway). You have numerous options for setting prompting levels. I set realtime protection to "Relaxed", which checks files when they execute rather than all the time. Malware can't do anything unless it tries to execute, this setting greatly improves performance. All security software has some performance impact, Outpost's is very low compared to most after initial scanning. You can read about the numerous features on Agnitum's website. Outpost uses many rules from automatic feedback which are then checked by experts before distributing (ImproveNet). As with any other software product, there are differences from other security suites, but the coverage is very good. I particularly like Outpost's logs. Filtered and interpreted logs are available in the UI, you can open the Logs folder to view detailed text logs.

OSS 7.5.1 includes some bug fixes which is a much better release than the freebie 7.5 version which has been popping up in giveaways across the net the last few weeks. I chose to just install the firewall as the antivirus is VirusBuster and I would rather use Avast. Your taste may differ. Get this while you can. Outpost Firewall is the best personal firewall available. Leave the Comodo headaches behind!

Having trouble registering (x64 version)... Reg code supplied doesn't work, throws up an error message saying the information entered is either incomplete or invalid...

please note that outpost security suite's anti-malware does contain the (improved) virusbuster core, but they have added their own proven technology, their own anti-trojan based on the earlier agnitum tauscan product, and they have added an updated heuristic engine for non-signature threats. the awards they received are real awards, unlike some other products, including VB100 certifications that has been more consistent than some of the other big names and offering higher protection than a lot of them. Outpost also scores highly in anti-leak tests.

as noted turn OFF the windows firewall & any other real-time a/v scanners. outpost security suite works with some but not all other a/v's. have a look at the support forum for info on avast, kaspersky, eset, etc. (see next para.)

Outpost has a very active and up to date user run & moderated english language support forum at http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/forum.php. i must admit that i am a bit prejudiced as i am one of the moderators ;) i have been using outpost since version one, and feel it's one of the better such products with a more useable interface than most. it does have a few odd bits and may have some bugs, but what software doesn't? if you get in trouble, we're there to help you. at least agnitum is actively working on the bugs and cares; they are a small privately owned russian company from st. petersburg with an MD that really wants to improve their customer care, again unlike some of the other biggies.
