Ned, So basically although the web page states ' between your iPhone/iPad/iPod and computer ' without iTunes '
you DO NEED iTunes but you don't have to USE it. am I correct ??

Godfrey Drive, It needs the drivers required to read and write to the iPhone, these come along with iTunes and legally cannot be packaged inside the installer as it is Apple intellectual property. You do not need to use iTunes as such to transfer the information but system drivers installed by iTunes are required.

Indeed, if they claim "without iTunes" so they better deliver in an "iTunes free" system. If iTunes is needed in the background than they should rephrase their description.
